Chamber Music from the Zdeněk Nejedlý Fund

In cooperation with the Sedláček Quartet, we have prepared two video recordings of chamber music from the Masaryk Institute and the Archives of the CAS.

Zdeněk Nejedlý's personal collection is rich in manuscripts of musical compositions from the 19th century. After more than 150 years, the String Quintet in F major by the composer and Prague mayor Václav Vanka (1798-1872) will be performed - a completely unknown composition. The recording with accompanying words is published here: https://youtu.be/CEkIqx-s_2I

Also on our channel is the String Quartet in A minor by the original Czech composer and violin virtuoso František Xaver Pecháček (1793-1840), which was highly acclaimed in Vienna(https://youtu.be/x0iCZciIHU0).

These are modern premieres - the pieces have never been recorded or performed. The Music Overcomes Borders project aims to make the archival treasures of Czech musical culture digitally accessible in the RISM international music catalogue; with the support of the AV 21 Strategy Programme - Memory in the Digital Age.
